Abigail (Abby) Coffing is a Marriage & Family Therapy intern completing her graduate training through Western Michigan University. Abby is passionate about working with children, couples, and families using a warm, collaborative, and client-centered approach. Abby brings experience in Play Therapy from her practicum work in a school setting, where she supported children through emotional, behavioral, and social challenges as well as parent-child relationships through joint sessions. Abby values the power of relationships in the healing process and is especially interested in helping clients navigate attachment wounds, communication struggles, and life transitions. Her approach is eclectic and grounded in a humanistic, strength-based, and attachment-focused perspective. Abby draws from a range of modalities including play therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method (Level 1 trained, currently completing Level 2 training), and Imago Relationship Therapy. She’s passionate about creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients of all ages feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow through connection and curiosity. Throughout her internship at The Family Therapy Place, Abby will receive supervision from Tracy Thompson, LPC. She is taking on new clients for $25/session, no insurance.
