Not Accepting New Clients.

Tracy Thompson is the owner of The Family Therapy Place and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Tracy specializes in working with children, families, and couples who have discovered that relationships can be challenging and can leave people feeling hurt or hopeless. Tracy's work helps people in relationships find safety and connection through attachment-building experiences in session.

Tracy's training and specialty is working with children and adults who have experienced developmental trauma, often due to neglect or abuse. Tracy has a strong belief in, and training in, the experience of attachment, and works with families to rebuild and nurture attachments when they have been broken. Tracy also works with adult families who are managing and resolving conflict that has surfaced or created separation within the family.

Tracy has been working and training from an attachment- and trauma-based perspective for over 10 years. She also uses nature-based and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy — read more about this service on the Services page.

Tracy works with couples from an attachment-based approach, helping clients identify their own wounds from early attachment to begin finding understanding and healing. This allows individuals within the couple to develop self-love and leadership, making more room for closeness and secure attachment with their partner.

She uses a variety of mediums when working with clients, and also works with children and parents together to help create a safe and strong support system for the child. She sees her role as coming alongside clients and trying to holistically meet them at their unique point of need.
